21C Girls is happy to team up with the Technology staff from Macquarie and Saturday Kids to organize a hackathon for girls from CHIJ Katong Convent on 13th May 2017.

Each girl was paired up with a volunteer from Macquarie, so that they would learn how to operate a MicroBit and create a project together through the course of the hackathon.

All prepared to mix code and craft!

In order to inspire the girls to consider a career in tech, we brought down trainers from Saturday Kids to conduct a workshop on programming the MicroBit as well as the hackathon in the later part of the session.

Not to be outdone, we saw the groups happily crafting out cool instruments to attach to their music creating MicroBits, whipping up a storm of creativity in design and technical skill.

We thank Macquarie for this chance to instil digital literacy amongst girls in Singapore!

Hope that you girls enjoyed yourselves whilst creating your project at Macquarie's Singapore office!
